It is a NSW government requirement (under the Food Act), that certain retail food businesses that process and sell food that is ready to eat, potentially hazardous and not sold and served in the suppliers original packaging, have at least one designated food safety supervisor responsible for implementing safe food handling. This requirement is enforced by the NSW Food Authority and local councils. This legislation protects patrons from food bourne illnesses and satisfies the legal requirements for Food Safety Supervisor training for retail food businesses in NSW.

The designated person is required to take a lead role in supervising food safety for the business. They must:

  • Hold the required competencies
  • Have the ability to supervise food handling practices in the food business
  • Be reasonably available at all times the food business is operating
  • Have the authority to supervise and give instructions to food handlers

This is a fast paced, industry specific course designed for people who are currently working in the Hospitality Industry.
