It is a Workcover requirement that prior to commencing a job on a building or construction site in NSW, everyone must hold a current General Induction for Construction Card , or “White Card”, as it is known in the Industry. Permitting a person to commence work on a construction site without having completed the required construction induction training carries a maximum penalty of 100 penalty units ($ 11,000).

- All new workers carrying out construction work
- Workers on construction sites
- Apprentices and trainees
- Work experience students
- Managers and supervisors
- Principal contractors
- Project managers
- Employees who have not worked in the construction industry for over 2 years
- Owner builders
The course provides an awareness and understanding of:
o the rights and responsibilities under OHS law
o common hazards and risks in the construction industry
o basic risk management principles
o the standard of behaviour expected of workers on construction sites.
o safety signage
This course encourages group discussion and interaction through group exercises. Competency is assessed both orally and by successfully completing a written and group assessment at the conclusion of training. The assessments are conducted in English.
Key Skills Training provides access to learning support services and resources to assist participants achieve the course learning outcomes. If you believe that you may have difficulty completing the assessment due to English being your second language, or you have literacy or numeracy issues, please contact us prior to undertaking the course so we can assist you with preparation.
You must arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time for registration and ID checks.
The course closes for entry 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be admitted and a rescheduling fee of 50% of the full course fee applies to book another course date.

• Participants who have been in Australia for less than 6 weeks
